Jim has been doing the ‘Dueling Piano’ act since 1990 and owns River Rats Dueling Pianos. He has helped open and performed at clubs around the country. He has also ‘dueled’ in Minor League ballparks, NHL hockey games, corporate events, and amusement parks. Jim does the act solo as the Rock-n-roll Piano Man and has two portable Steinworth Grand Pianos.

Jim started playing at age four on the piano in his dad’s after hours basement bar and began lessons at Hamline University under concert pianist James Bonn at age five. Classically trained until age twelve, he continued later with music theory, piano tuning, voice training, and comedy classes. Jim has perfect pitch, plays by ear, knows too many songs, and drives a room.
